Most photographers grow faster with a steady rhythm and other people doing the same work. Every month you get three live sessions on composition, visual design, storytelling, and editing, plus Print Lab and Open Studio AMA. Between sessions, the community is where you share images, ask questions, and learn from other members' work.

All sessions are recorded and can be accessed easily from your member dashboard.

You can, and you'll find plenty of information. What you won't get is someone who knows your work over time, sees the pattern across your images, and tells you the truth with care. Information is everywhere now. A mentor isn't.

Every member gets all live sessions, including Creative Feedback sessions where I critique member images on a rotating basis. Academy Plus adds a private 30-minute 1:1 with me each month, personal notes and a replay, edits in your Raw file when helpful, and your own private Coaching Studio, where every session is recorded and we can keep talking between sessions. Plus is limited to 20 members.

Absolutely! Regardless of whether you're a beginner or a veteran, we are all always expanding and exploring our understanding of the the fundamentals and principles of photography. Mastery is a process, not a destination, and therefore there is always more to learn at whatever stage you find yourself.

There will be at least 3 live sessions every month (presentations and image critiques), and a monthly Open Studio AMA (Ask Me Anything) to answer questions and engage in lively discussion.

The focus of the Academy in on the essential skills and concepts that you need to master in order to create compelling and meaningful images. Those topics will include:

• Visual Storytelling
• Composition and Visual Design
• Creative post-processing (primarily in Lightroom)
• Developing your photographic vision (including portfolio building)
• Mindset and motivation
• Learning from other artists (master photographers, painters, etc)
• Fine art printing (for those who want to start and/or improve their printing skills.)
• iPhone photography as a creative tool
• Fundamental technical skills

And of course, image critiques and feedback will be a fundamental aspect to your growth in the Academy.

I'm also very open to your feedback and happy to discuss topics that are relevant to members. I'm also planning to have guest speakers in the future.

I don't want anyone to join if it's not a good fit. If you want more out of your photography than just cool gear and lots of likes on your social media pages, then you're in the right place.

Not at all! While I’m known for landscape photography, the Academy is designed for photographers of all kinds. We focus on universal principles of visual design, composition, and storytelling that apply to any genre, including portraiture, macro, street, and more. The only requirement is a desire to grow as a visual artist and connect with a supportive creative community.

No. The Academy is about learning to see and tell stronger visual stories, and most of what we do has nothing to do with printing. If you never make a print, you'll still get everything you came for. Printing is here for those who want to go deeper, never a requirement.
