What's in the course

Seven short lessons, a few days apart.

Over about two and a half weeks you'll get seven short lessons by email, the first three every other day and then one every three days. Each is built around a single idea and one simple thing to practice with your own images, and the days between them are where the practice happens. Nothing in it needs new gear, new software, or a trip somewhere beautiful.

By the end you'll have one question to ask of every photograph you make, and a clearer way of looking at the ones you've already made. Enter your name and email above and Day 1 arrives in a few minutes.

I've spent most of my life learning composition in one form or another. First as an arranger/producer in the recording studio, where the work is the same problem as a photograph: what leads, what supports, what gets cut. Later with a camera, and more recently at the painting table. I've been teaching composition to photographers for fifteen years, and the principles carry across all of it.
